The Qualification
The course is intended for those who wish to enter the Close Protection industry. It conforms to the requirements of the national SIA registration scheme and is accredited by Edexcel, and recognised by the SIA .
The course consists of a minimum of 150 hours of guided learning running over a 15 day period. The course covers the 150 hours of training that is necessary to apply for the SIA license and is a combination of classroom and practical exercises. It is an intensive course and all sections of the course must be completed to allow you to apply for your license.

In order to achieve a pass for the level 3 BTEC Certificate in Close Protection Operations learners must achieve :
-A pass in an externally set and externally marked multiple choice test.
-A pass for an internally set and internally assessed portfolio, which includes a practical assessment.
The fines for working as a close protection officer without an SIA licence are severe. You can be fined up to £5,000.00 and receive up to six months in prison.
