The Qualification
The EDEXCEL Level 2 BTEC Award in Vehicle Immobilisation has been accredited to the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and the structure has been split into two core units (to achieve the whole qualification, a learner must successfully complete both core units)
Unit One - The Vehicle Immobiliser
Unit Two - Communication and Conflict Management.
Target Audience
This course is designed for all personnel working within the vehicle immobilisation industry.
Qualification Aims
The Level 2 BTEC Award in vehicle immobilisation has been designed to meet the training needs of all operatives who are employed by large and small companies and operators in the vehicle immobilisation sector. The Level 2 BTEC Award in vehicle immobilisation is designed to provide:
-A framework of education and training for those in the security guarding sector
-Opportunities for personnel in the security guarding sector to achieve a nationally recognised level 2 qualification that is vocationally specific
-The knowledge, understanding and skills learners need to apply for a licence to practice
-Opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life
Learning Objectives
-To explain the roles and responsibilities of the vehicle immobiliser
-To understand the legal requirements of a vehicle immobiliser
-To explain the systems of work that effect the vehicle immobiliser
-To understand the systems when dealing with clamping, to carry out this knowledge in a practical scenario
-To be able to carry out a properly designed scenario in dealing with a clamp, and to explain the legal framework in issuing a clamp
-Understand the history of the service of a vehicle immobiliser, why clamping is used; relevance of Private Security Industry Act 2001 to vehicle immobilisation
-Understand the Health & Safety implications in the vehicle immobilisation industry
-To understand the communication methods of the vehicle immobilisation industry
-To explain the importance of completing documentation accurately
-To understand Conflict Management for vehicle immobilisation operatives
-Understand human responses to emotional and threatening situations
-Resolve conflict via strategies, using empathy and problem solving
Certification
On successful completion of this training course, each candidate will receive an EDEXCEL BTEC accredited certification.
Course Duration
The training programme can be delivered over four consecutive days or flexible hours to suit individual client requirements.

When delegates receive their results they can make an application to the SIA for a licence to enable them to work within the vehicle immobilisation sector of the security industry, current prices are:
Vehicle Immobiliser Front Line Operative Licence (valid for 1 year) £245.00
Vehicle Immobiliser Non Front Line Operative Licence (valid for 3 years) £245.00
The fines for working as a vehicle immobiliser without an SIA licence are severe. You can be fined up to £5,000.00 and receive up to six months in prison.
